Free the flow (Modified Ji Chuan Jian)

Highly concentrated formula, revised and improved by Bob Flaws, combining Ji Chuan Jian (Flow the River Decoction) by Zhang Jie-bin with Bu Zhong Yi Qi Tang (Supplement the Center & Boost the Qi Decoction) by Li Dong-yuan.

In this formula, Huang Qi and Dang Shen strengthen the spleen and tonify qi. Dang Gui and He Shou Wu nourish the blood and moisten the intestines, while Dang Gui also activates the blood and transforms stasis. Rou Cong 114 Rong nourishes the blood, strengthens the yang, and releases the free flow of feces. Tao Ren activates the blood and dissipates stasis while moistening the intestines and releasing the free flow of feces. Huang Qin clears heat from the stomach, intestines, liver, and gallbladder. Niu Xi nourishes the kidney and yin, activates the blood, and causes blood to descend. Ze Xie transforms dampness and, because it has a descending nature, also helps to lower impurities, especially when combined with Niu Xi. As a complementary action, it helps to reduce any rising ministerial fire. Zhi Ke moves and descends qi, while Sheng Ma raises pure qi, and so they mutually support each other—if pure qi can rise, impure qi can descend, and vice versa. Thus, if Zhi Ke descends and Sheng Ma ascends, the entire qi mechanism is regulated.
